Helen’s Story

Bluebells Day Nursery opened by Helen Lloyd in memory of her late husband Rob Blewett who died suddenly from a rare form of cancer at the age of 24.

Totally devastated, Helen’s future dreams were shattered as she had not only lost her husband but also the chance to have a family. She left her job as a financial advisor for a bank and set out to open her own day nursery, knowing absolutely nothing about the industry. Through sheer determination, hard work many setbacks and even more tears, Bluebells opened its doors 12 months later.

The name Bluebells derived from both of names – Blue as in ‘Blewett’ and Bells from Helen’s nickname ‘Hellsbells’

Proud & Passionate

Twenty years on and I am still as proud and as passionate about providing outstanding, personal and excellent childcare. We have earned an enviable reputation of being one of the most sought after nurseries in Wirral. Our repeat customers, word of mouth recommendations and waiting list speaks volumes.
Our nursery is only as good as its staff and we have the most passionate, committed and highly qualified team of people. Staff retention is high as I truly value and respect every staff member and our work ethos and training programme is first class.

95% of our staff are qualified to a minimum of level 3 in childcare and Safeguarding and First Aid training is mandatory. In fact we are the ONLY nursery in Wirral to have achieved ‘Millie’s Mark’ – the prestigious quality assurance scheme which is awarded for nurseries that go above and beyond the national expectations.

Our staff are also fully qualified to deliver Wellcomm. This is a fantastic toolkit of seeing how your child is developing with speech, language and communication. We can identify any needs early on and promote activities to help them grow and progress.
